Gokharu is wonderful medicinal weed.it is also called Bhakra,Gokuri,Bull's Head,goat's head etc.it is a flat growing,mat forming plant with rapidly spreading branches.it has hairy leaves and silky young parts ,yellow and spiny angular fruits.Gokharu grows rapidly along roads and wastelands throught india .what make it so special?this lowly weed grows well in sandy or black irrigated soil up altitude of 3000m.originally it is native of Europe and Asia.it might have been introduced to the united state and other countries from the Mediterranean region.many other type of soil such as dry and moist soil,and poor or rich soil also are suitable for it to grow rapidly.Gokharu is a summer annual and reproduces by seed.its spiny nutlets which adhere  to tyres,shoes,clothing.as well as the fur feathers etc.aid its spread.Many phytochemicals such as sapionins ,sterols,flavonoids and fatty acids are made.
